#4463 (The synodalworld.org website)

by Luc Saffre · in Developers · assigned to Sharif Mehedi

Summary

Some time ago I bought the domain name synodalworld.org but never actually used it. Let's use it for a social experiment. Sharif will be the main responsible for installing and hosting a Lino Noi on this server. Only one nginx site. This will be the first production Lino site with a CMS. It should have languages en, bn, de and fr.

  • 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I suggest to remove the sw site because apparently we are not going to be CMS end users so quickly. And rather than playing on sw we should activate CMS on Jane #6737 (Activate cms on Jane).
  • 1 year ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : todo: there are still bugs in the publisher locations
  • 1 year ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : The songs plugin continues in #4385 (Lino Canti)
  • 1 year ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : And how to get these songs into a publisher page? Using include memo commands? No, we want end users to easily insert songs on a page and see on what pages they are used. So we could introduce a new model publisher.PageItem, similar to albums.AlbumItem, with a seqno and a pointer to songs.Song. The ...
  • 1 year ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I have been thinking about how to make online songbooks with Lino. A song is similar to the vedi.Entry model. Should we create a new plugin (e.g. "songs")? Or should we extend the products plugin so that we can manage both Vedi-style entries and songs as "products"? Answer: be specific, create a new...
  • 1 year ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I fixed two little bugs in publisher root page handling.
  • 1 year ago by Luc Saffre in reply to Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : SW is back under the newest version.
  • 1 year ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) (1 reply) : I'll now upgrade the sw prod site in order to test the new features (menu trees, line breaks, ...)
  • 1 year, 1 month ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : TODO: Upgrade the prod site
  • 1 year, 1 month ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : TODO: The Estnischkurs tree is a use case for tables. But that feature doesn't yet exist in Lino.
  • 1 year, 1 month ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : TODO: Cannot resize the external images in What Lino looks like.
  • 1 year, 1 month ago by Luc Saffre in reply to Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : OK i tidied up (the trash came from the last data migration).
  • 1 year, 1 month ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) (1 reply) : TODO: The Tree table on SW contains partly trash.
  • 1 year, 1 month ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I reopened #6284 (Add a Sign in button in the publisher top bar) because that was the first obstacle in our fictive demo tour.
  • 1 year, 1 month ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Canadian writer Dave Volek suggests a form of government without political parties he calls Tiered Democratic Governance. I added a web link to his website on my page about continuous cascaded voting. He has written a lot of stuff and I don't understand it all, but there are places where we have ver...
  • 1 year, 2 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Oops I launched pull.sh before making a snapshot. Manual backup:
Tere tulemast synodalworld veebisaidil. Sõna “sünodaalne” tuleb kreekakeelsetest sõnadest συν (koos) ja ὁδός (teekond). Jah, sellel planeedil oleme inimkonnana koos teel, kas see meeldib sulle või mitte.
    Welcome to the synodalworld w...
  • 1 year, 2 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I think that we will also have to find a better domain name. Synodalworld is too long and complicated.
  • 1 year, 2 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : SW is back. It was broken because I had set use_systemd to True but systemd-python wasn't installed.
  • 1 year, 4 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : TODO: have a deeper look at pol.is (see here and here) and formulate why we believe that we (Lino) can bring an important new feature, namely continued cascaded voting, for deciding about things (e.g. which tickets to work on next (i.e. the seqno of tickets), or which changes to accept into a text).
  • 1 year, 5 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : When I open the Mission page there is a photo, without any credit to the copyright holder. IIRC we have the name of the author in the database, but that information is simply not rendered.
  • 1 year, 5 months ago by Sharif Mehedi about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I just upgraded the sw site on pilv.
  • 1 year, 5 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Get inspired by grassroot movements?
  • 1 year, 5 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Okay our session was interrupted but you got some ideas.
  • 1 year, 5 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : TODO: optimize end user experience for creating cal entries. how to render calendar entries (maybe just add an as_paragraph() method to cal.Event). cal.Event.descriptive_page field (FK to publisher.Page).
  • 1 year, 5 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Just for inspiration here is a screenshot of a poll regarding changes in a documenten used by WMF:
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Voilà, sw is now the only Lino site that uses the shared env on pilv. You can now run pull.sh without fearing for fijal and pdg (pdg is the name of what had been running under beta until now). We might reactivate the alpha and beta sites on pilv by just moving back the config files for supervisor an...
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I will now change things on pilv so that the prima site has its own environment, so that you can update sw independently.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I suggest to use publisher.Page as "topic" of a discussion.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Right now topics.Topic inherits StructuredReferrable, this is visible in tera. If we want to add a parent field then i'd make it Hierarchical (that's what Hierarchical mixin does). But I'm not sure whether we will use the topics plugin, my impression is that people just want to select their group (s...
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Sharif Mehedi about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Should topics.Topic have parent..child relationship to itself?
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Sharif Mehedi about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) (1 reply) : I was again reading @luc 's writing on Continuous Cascaded Voting. Where @luc says (on [url hw.saffre-rumma.net/ccv/#explanations Explanations] second paragraph): "Voting remains private because every vote is considered confidential data. You cannot see who voted for you, but you can see how many people...
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : @8lurry if you see things you can do alone, then go for it. Maybe write a fixture lino.modlib.publisher.fixtures.synodalworld.py, similar to laundry_nodes.py but with other headings. Then add synodalworld to Site.demo_fixtures in lino_book.projects.cms2.settings and use cms2 for local testing. You might pu...
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I now pushed the changes (in lino, xl, noi and cms) resulting from our brainstorming session.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : TODO: render on every page in a "top menu" the first-level children of SpecialPages.home.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : The wikimediafoundation.org website seems like a good example to follow. Default view of Pages should be grid, not story. Remove body column from BlogEntries grid. Add a field "main image" per Page and per Blog. The publishing_state field is missing in detail layout.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) (1 reply) : The links of the language selector all point to "/None", These links are being generated in lino/modlib/publisher/config/publisher/page.pub.html, and it seems that ar.get_request_url(ul=lang.django_code) is returning None. I'll try to understand this.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : At least synodalworld.org is now up and running. But there are still plenty of problems. Feel free to play, @8lurry.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : We don't need to add a cms2 demo project because noi2 is actually very similar to sw.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) (1 reply) : When our Internet connection broke, it was having yet another traceback (in the supervisor log): 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'add_help_text'.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Sharif and I ran getlino configure and getlino startsite on pilv. No, getlino is not yet very user-friendly (but this is not a priority) right now.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : I changed the DNS config oat OVH so that synodalworld.org now points to pilv. In a few hours it should have been propagated and we can set up a Lino Noi server on pilv.
  • 1 year, 6 months ago by Luc Saffre about #4463 (The synodalworld.org website) : Next step is to either rent a VPS or select one of our existing servers.
