#4909 (synodal does not have a 'pyproject.toml')
by Luc Saffre · in Developers · assigned to Luc Saffre
Résumé
During pull.sh on LF I saw this warning:
DEPRECATION: synodal is being installed using the legacy 'setup.py install' method, because it does not have a 'pyproject.toml' and the 'wheel' package is not installed. pip 23.1 will enforce this behaviour change. A possible replacement is to enable the '--use-pep517' option. Discussion can be found at github.com/pypa/pip/issues/8559

- 3 ans ago by Luc Saffre about #4909 (synodal does not have a 'pyproject.toml') : I had to do something because when installing synodal on a demo server, it said "ValueError: Missing `project` metadata table in configuration." I think that in the medium-term we should replace all our setup.py files by pyproject.toml files, which includes adapting atelier so that it loads the toml...
- 3 ans ago by Luc Saffre about #4909 (synodal does not have a 'pyproject.toml') : I now removed the setup.py from synodal and moved its content to pyproject.toml. This causes atelier to no longer load_setup_info() for this project. So I cannot currently use "inv sdist release" and must manually use "python -m build" and "twine upload dist/*" as described in [url packaging.python....
- 3 ans, 6 mois ago by Luc Saffre about #4909 (synodal does not have a 'pyproject.toml') : In a first step we could *generate* the project.toml file from the setup_info.py file. For example together with the README file, i.e. in atelier.invlib.tasks
- 3 ans, 6 mois ago by Luc Saffre about #4909 (synodal does not have a 'pyproject.toml') : Same warning comes for all other packages. Seems that we need to add pyproject.toml files to each repository. And it seems that this is going to replace setup_info.py files.
