• 8 kuud ago by Sharif Mehedi about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : It's not just the lib*.so linker, to have browser extension, an extension also needs to talk to the system since the pkcs11 can't run in browser so we will need another intermediate software that establishes communication between the extension and the system.
• 8 kuud ago by Luc Saffre about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : Don't forget that those who want to use eidreader functionality also habe the belgian middleware installed on their computer. You can also install it from eid.belgium.be
• 8 kuud ago by Sharif Mehedi about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : Another false alert, having an extension requires installing some other native sdk/middleware software, we are better off eidreader package.
  The remaining option is having an electron wrapper. The customers still will have to install the electron app (nothing browser native).
• 8 kuud ago by Sharif Mehedi about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : False alert, we can't read eid from purely browser side code. We need at least a browser extension (NOT sure how to go with that, but I can try to figure it out). Another solution would be to write electron wrapper around react.
• 8 kuud ago by Sharif Mehedi about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : I have some stuff done with github-copilot. The code looks good. @luc we should try it together.
• 8 kuud ago by Sharif Mehedi about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : I don't think we can run "pkcs11js" on a browser. Because underlying code for pkcs11js is written in "C" and it's a compiled binary that "node" loads as the "pkcs11" package.
  My other thought is that we can let the backend do the cryptography staff, and somehow read the card from the browser and dele...
• 8 kuud ago by Luc Saffre about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : @8lurry your turn: after adding an entry item in the webpack.config.js we have a build error "UnhandledSchemeError: Reading from "node:util" is not handled by plugins"
• 8 kuud ago by Luc Saffre about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : I said "go react" and "npm install pkcs11js" as instructed on npmjs.com but when I click on Read eID card in avanti1, I get the console error message "Uncaught (in promise) ReferenceError: require is not defined" in the following line: var pkcs11js = require("pkcs11js");

• 8 kuud ago by Luc Saffre about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : Let's have a jitsi about this tomorrow.
• 10 kuud, 1 nädal ago by Luc Saffre about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : This might be very feasible using pkcs11js, And it's a good exercise for me. But I'll need your help, @8lurry.
• 10 kuud, 1 nädal ago by Luc Saffre about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : Is there a way to do in javascript what the eid2dict() function of eidreader does? The problem with eidreader is that security professionals don't trust it.
• 10 kuud, 1 nädal ago by Luc Saffre about #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?) : Created new Ticket #6532 (Replace eidreader by pure javascript code?).
