#6795 (Continue the backup on external HDD from new notebook)

Résumé

This is similar to #5741 (How to restore an rsync archive backup to a computer with other UIDs?) but the situation is changed: I have the files on my new notebook, but the files on my external disk are still using the UIDs from the old notebook.

$ sudo su # cd /media/luc/backup/frodo # find -user 6001 # find -user 6001 -exec chown -h luc {} \; # find -group 6001 -exec chgrp -h luc {} \;

NB: "find -user 6001 | xargs chown luc" fails if there are files with whitepace in their name. The -h option to chown instructs it to affect symbolic link...
