This error is usually preceded by a longer message of style::
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
LANGUAGE = (unset),
LC_ALL = (unset),
....
LANG = "en_US.UTF-8"
are supported and installed on your system.
You see your current language using:
$ set | grep LANG
Solution should then be to run:
$ sudo locale-gen en_GB.UTF-8 $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
You might also change LANGUAGE and LANG and LC_ALL envvars to some other locale.
