You probably just need to define a new table MyEnrolments(My, Enrolments) with a param_defaults() method which hides all closed activities. And add it to the get_dashboard_items of the plugin. dashboard items are displayed only if they contains something. The advantage is that i can easily join an activity led by sb else.
