But it is confirmed that this is a problem in the application code, since it is reproducible locally. I first tried with fixing the issues on elastic plugin, which didn't fix the problem and afterwards I tried with removing elastic plugin completely, which didn't fix...

But locally everything's working fine (even with elastic plugin installed). And my local repositories are up to date with pypi versions. I think we need to take another look at jane.
