The adequate response for this should be to raise a django.core.exceptions.BadRequest because it's a slave table and no master instance has been specified.

I stumbled into the explanation for this traceback (which continues to come now and then): On [url luc.lino-framework.org/blog/2021/0616.html one of my blog pages] there was a hard-coded link to [url jane.mylino.net/api/comments/CommentsByRFC], and of course this link gets visited by robots :-) ...

One thing is to have the serer return a 400 Bad Request response (not a 500 Internal Server Error). Another thing is that the client obviously issued this useless AJAX reques...

Seems that it comes when some static file is missing. Django wants to respond using some template, and some variable 'name' is not in the context when evaluating the template.
